Judo was founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano. It's traditional roots are in Japanese Jujitsu, which Dr. Kano studied and refined into the techniques that are now known as Judo. It is a martial art that can be safely practiced at full intensity and focuses heavily on throwing and grappling.
Judo became an Olympic sport in 1964 and is one of the most popular sports world wide. At McCleary Martial Arts Center we practice both competitive and recreational judo.
Junior Judo Classes are available four days per week at 5:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday and at 6:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
Adult Judo Classes are available four days per week at 8:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday and at 7:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
